Beginning of this Journey

For years, I have been jotting down ideas, poems, and stories on paper. The frustration, however, was that after time, those writings seemed to disappear into thin area, or get lost in the shuffle of life. This was discouraging, as writing was, and has been a very powerful outlet in my life. Very recently, as I battled with mental wellness, I found that the best way to combat certain thoughts, were to write them down. And thus, began the collection of poems affectionately entitled "Emotional Gems".

I wrote this collection for two reasons. The first reason was to help with my battle and struggles from within. The second reason, which I feel is the most important, is to give a voice to those who struggle with mental wellness, and provide a vehicle of release to them. For readers of this collection who find themselves battling themselves, be encouraged to know that you are not alone, and each day gets better. (#mentalwellness #broken #poetry)
